UnitParking is a compact parking garage, where the cars are placed in their own load modules that are stacked on top of each other. The process is completely unmanned and automated.
The mechanical part of the concept is based on existing and proven technology in the form of the market’s best traverse system and traverse control. The cars are safely in their load modules. As no people have access to the parking garage, there is no risk of vandalism or parking damage. Burglary and theft are also prevented thanks to the concept.
The intelligence is called UP Control, a self-developed computer system, which communicates with the customer via a special App in the phone.
How it works
When the customer approaches the parking garage, he or she chooses a vacant gate that is indicated by a green light. The vehicle is registered in UnitParking’s system using the App. Then the car number is read and the door opens.
The car is driven into the load module and all people get out. The driver states in the App how long the car should be parked, but can easily change the time if needed. With the correctly specified parking time, the system ensures that the car is available when the driver is to pick it up. In this way, unnecessary waiting time on delivery is avoided.
After the car has been parked and all people have left it, the gate closes. The traverse crane picks up the vehicle and selects a place in the garage with regard to the desired parking time.
If it is for a longer period of time, the car will be placed deeper into the system. With a shorter parking time, the car is placed at the top to be quickly accessible. As the specified pick-up time for a long-term parked car approaches, it will slowly and surely gain new positions, so that it is at the top and is easily accessible. With the right communication between the customer and the system, the car will be delivered in a port when the driver arrives.
